For SaaS

Product design for SaaS teams.

You need a product that feels designed — not a slide deck. We partner with founders and product leads to ship interfaces users understand on the first session.

What we bring

  • MVP and early product UX that survives real users
  • Rebuilds when the UI no longer matches the business
  • Systems that keep shipping coherent after we leave
  • AI features designed as product — states, recovery, trust — not a chat skin

What a SaaS product design partner actually does

Most SaaS teams do not need another branding pack. They need judgment on what not to build, an interface that teaches itself, and a handoff engineers can trust. Phoenux is a product design studio — Clarity briefs the work, Creation ships the product, Discovery helps with reach only when you ask for it.

We work mostly with US and Canadian B2B SaaS: founders validating a wedge, product leads mid-rebuild, and teams adding AI into workflows that already have accountability. If you want decoration after the roadmap is frozen, we are the wrong studio.

Fifteen people. Toronto and Lahore. Intentionally small so senior judgment stays on your problem — not buried under account layers.

Two doors: Launch or Rebuild

Serious SaaS design work usually fits one of two doors. Naming them early saves everyone from a vague “website project.”

Launch is for a new product or MVP — validated enough to design and ship something people can use. We cut to one priority journey (signup, core loop, checkout), design empty/loading/error/success states, and ship on the lightest honest stack.

Rebuild is for something live that looks finished but fails in real use: weak structure, tired UI, or a face that no longer matches the business. We map the journeys that pay the bills, strip ceremony, and rebuild hierarchy so power users and first-timers can both move.

Everything else — positioning sprints, UX audits, AI readiness — exists to make one of those two paths cleaner. If you cannot say Launch or Rebuild in one sentence, we start there on the call.

In-app product, not just the marketing shell

Web Design & UX covers the public shell: marketing site, conversion paths, responsive IA. Product & Interface Design goes deeper into SaaS workflows — permissions, dense tables, multi-role admin, edge cases, and eng-ready specs.

Many clients need both, sequenced honestly: shell then core product, or audit then rebuild. We will not pretend a homepage refresh fixes an in-app IA problem.

How engagements typically run

Focused sprints (usually 1–3 weeks) suit one outcome: UX audit, AI readiness, positioning, or an MVP slice. Defined projects run weeks to a few months with phased journeys. Retainers put senior design inside your cadence when you already ship every sprint.

Typical bands for US/Canadian SaaS work: focused sprints often $8,000–$25,000 USD; defined projects often $25,000–$120,000+; retainers typically from about $12,000/month. Those are illustrative — a written estimate with assumptions follows the brief, with a ±10% band on agreed scope. See Rates for how we size.

Founders Shahrukh Azhar and Ahmed Sadoon still work in the files. The people who sell the work are usually the ones designing it.

Fit / not for

Fit: B2B SaaS with real users and real accountability. Teams who will decide on a call. Products where UX is a growth lever, not a coat of paint. AI features that must earn trust inside existing workflows.

Not for: Commodity logo packs. Slide-deck-only “vision” with no ship plan. SEO-led agencies looking for a design bolt-on. Guarantees that any AI assistant will cite your brand.

What the first engagement usually looks like

Most SaaS teams start with a call, not a procurement theater. We want the door (Launch or Rebuild), the journey that pays the bills, and one metric that would make the work worth it. If the brief is wrong, you will hear it early — while it still costs nothing to change.

From there we propose a focused sprint or a defined project with a written cut list. Estimates usually turn around in about a week, with a ±10% band on agreed scope. You get assumptions in writing, not a surprise invoice culture.

During the work, founders and seniors stay close. Reviews are structured so feedback lands on the right layer — structure versus visual — instead of endless pixel debates. Eng handoff includes states and edge cases, not only the happy path.

Proof you can verify

Sendoso: B2B gifting UX that lifted monthly active users when marketers and senders finally shared one story in the product. Unlayer: brand, product, and voice rebuilt for a developer-first vertical — the kind of buyer who embeds infrastructure, not a marketing toy. Foodics: modular ordering systems at merchant scale across MENA.

Named clients. Real outcomes. If a case study is thin, we would rather pause it than overclaim — which is why our portfolio emphasizes work with methodology and imagery, not logo wallpaper.

AI inside SaaS — without the trust crash

SaaS buyers are adding copilots, generators, and agents into products that already have permissions and accountability. Bolting chat onto a weak IA makes support tickets worse. We design AI as product UX: job-to-be-done in context, failure-first states, disclosure, undo, and eval hooks.

Conversational surfaces when dialogue is the job. Agentic workflow UX when the system takes multi-step actions with human oversight. AI-native design systems when probabilistic UI would otherwise accelerate drift across squads.

We will not promise that ChatGPT will cite your brand. That is Discovery eligibility work — optional, honest, and never a substitute for a usable product.

Tell us whether you are Launching or Rebuilding, the journey that pays the bills, and what better means in a metric you already track. We will come back with a sprint or project and a clear cut list — and we will say if we are the wrong studio.

Selected SaaS work

  • Sendoso

Marketers and sales were flying blind — Touches were hard to find, harder to measure, and trust between the two sides was thin.

  • Unlayer

Unlayer was shifting its selling vertical toward developers — but branding, product UI, and voice still spoke to a different buyer.

  • Foodics

Design was the bottleneck — scattered teams, rigid templates, soft conversion, and merchants with almost no brand control.

Questions

Do you only work with early-stage SaaS?

No. We ship MVPs and also rebuild live products when the experience has fallen behind the business. Series A through established B2B platforms are both in scope if design is a product problem.

Can you work with our eng team?

Yes. We design for handoff — specs, systems, states, and judgment — so your engineers can ship without guessing. We can also build on no-code, low-code, or custom when that is the honest path.

What does a product design agency for SaaS actually deliver?

Interfaces and journeys users understand on the first session: MVP UX, redesigns, design systems, and AI feature UX with recovery paths. Not a branding pack with no product behind it.

How is this different from a freelance UI designer?

A freelancer is one person — capacity stops when they do. Phoenux brings senior judgment, systems, and continuity across Clarity, Creation, and optional Discovery. Founders stay close to the work.

How much does SaaS product design cost?

Focused sprints typically land around $8,000–$25,000 USD. Defined product projects often fall in the $25,000–$120,000+ band depending on journeys and depth. We size from your brief — see Rates — and confirm a written range with assumptions.
